Renowned broadcast journalist Chris Wallace is selling his Washington, D.C. home of 28 years. The real estate listing comes shortly after Wallace announced his upcoming departure from CNN, where he currently hosts “The Chris Wallace Show” and “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” The 77-year-old veteran journalist has held roles at a number of top networks, including ABC, CBS, Fox News, and NBC, so it’s no wonder he’s lived in the D.C. area for quite some time.
“This is the first time in 55 years I’ve been between jobs. I am actually excited and liberated by that,” Wallace told the Daily Beast. Rather than renegotiate his contract with CNN that ends at the end of this year, the journalist is pivoting from major news outlets and is taking the opportunity to explore streaming and podcasting.
With this season of change, Wallace and his wife are looking to sell their circa-1929 Georgian Revival home known as the Jelleff Mansion. The residence was originally built for Frank R. Jelleff, a department store founder, and his wife, who often hosted guests by the likes of Senator Ted Kennedy, actor George Clooney, and Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, according to the Robb Report.
The brick facade is met with equally impressive interiors. There are formal entertaining rooms, an updated kitchen, butler’s pantry, and a fully furnished lower level with an in-law/staff suite. Architectural details include archways, crown moldings, and paneled walls. The 7,000 sqaure-foot home totals four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Michael Rankin of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing, though it is being marketed more quietly.
